TEMPORARY TRUCK DETOUR, ROUTE 30/PEARL ST. SOUTHBOUND

 

City of Amsterdam, Montgomery County

The New York State Department of Transportation Utica RegionalOffice has issued the following travel advisory for motorists in the City ofAmsterdam, Montgomery County:

Beginning Monday, May 24, 2021 motorists traveling southbound onRoute 30 (Pearl St.) will encounter a temporary detour at the intersection withRoute 5 West Bound (Main St.) for Large trucks and all vehicles pullingtrailers. Large trucks and all vehicles pulling trailers will be detoured ontoRoute 5 East Bound (Front St.) to Schuyler St., to Route 5 westbound then toRoute 30 southbound. Drivers of these vehicles MUST follow the detour.Passenger cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks do not need to follow the detour. Thedetour is expected to remain in place through the end of July.

Variable message signs will be in operation notifying localmotorists of the detour. Signed detours will be utilized to advise motoristsand direct traffic to the appropriate detour routes.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in workzones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two ormore speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of anindividual’s driver license.
