NYS ROUTE 30, NORTHBOUND LANE CLOSURE

City of Amsterdam, Montgomery County

 

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Utica Regional Office has issued the following travel advisory for motorists in the City of Amsterdam, Montgomery County:

 

On Thursday, October 24, 2019 between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m.,motorists traveling on NYS Route 30 northbound will encounter a lane closure.At approximately 10:00 p.m., traffic in both the north and southbound lanes will be stopped temporarily so that the contractor can remove the overhead sign structure truss. The entire operation is scheduled to be complete within 10 minutes.

 

Please Note: Motorists are urged to use alternate routes during this operation to avoid travel delays.

 

It is imperative that motorists remember to drive carefully in work zones, for their own safety and the safety of workers. Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.

 

It is imperative that motorists remember to drive carefully in work zones, for their own safety and the safety of workers. Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. NYSDOT recently unveiled a public service announcement and social media campaign focused on the importance of driving responsibly in work zones. The video highlights the importance of paying attention in work zones and obeying New York State’s “Move Over” laws.
