Pleasebe advised that the City of Amsterdam Department of Public Works is remindingall city residents that it is against the law to put snow in the road.
PerAmsterdam City Code § 206-34 Public streets:
A. Thesweeping, throwing, pushing or plowing of any snow, ice or other substance intoa public street or from one portion of a public street to another portion ofsuch street or any other public street or causing the sweeping, throwing,pushing or plowing of any snow, ice or other substance into a public street orfrom one portion of a public street to another portion of such street or anyother public street by any person, firm or corporation or any of its agents,servants or employees, in such amount so as to in any way encumber, block,obstruct or interfere with travel, traffic or passage on and over any suchstreet or any part thereof in the City of Amsterdam is hereby prohibited.
B. Allsurplus snow, ice or other substance shall be promptly removed, carted, truckedand carried away without delay by the person, firm or corporation or any of itsagent, servants or employees accumulating or causing such surplus snow, ice orother substance to be accumulated.
C. Itis not intended to prohibit hereby the ordinary sweeping, throwing or shovelingof snow or ice from sidewalks, curbs and gutters into public streets.
§ 206-35 Violations and penalties.
Everyperson convicted of a violation of any provision of this article shall bepunished by a fine of not more than $100 or by imprisonment for not more than30 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
