The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Utica Regional Office has issued the following travel information for motorists in the City of Amsterdam, Montgomery County:
On Wednesday, April 1, 2020 starting at 9:00AM the Bridge Street on/off ramp to Route 30 will be closed to traffic due to construction work on the ramp. The work is scheduled to be completed by the mid - June.
Variable message signs (V.M.S.) have been in operation notifying local motorists of the ramp closure due to construction work.
It is imperative that motorists remember to drive carefully in work zones, for their own safety and the safety of workers. Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
NYSDOT recently unveiled a public service announcement and social media campaign focused on the importance of driving responsibly in work zones. The video highlights the importance of paying attention in work zones and obeying New York State’s “Move Over” laws.
