William was born on March 1,1944 to Stanislaus (Stanley) and Catherine Motyka and was one of ten children, four of which died in the Schulyer Street Fire on February 1st, 1955. William graduated from Lynch High School in 1962. Following High School, he enlisted in the USAF. He completed basic training at Lackland AFB. He was then reassigned to Amarillo Texas AFB for technical training as aircraft mechanical maintenance repair. He received an honorable discharge July 1, 1966. He returned to Amsterdam where he met and married Sandra M. Slater in 1967. They have five children, 12 grandchildren and four great granddaughters. William worked all his life in auto mechanics and maintenance up until his retirement in 2007. He still resides in Amsterdam with his wife of 54 years.
