Vincenzo "Jimmy" Turo  lived on the Southside of Amsterdam his whole life and attended the Civilian Conservation Corps from October to December of 1936.  Jimmy served as a Medical Technician for three years then a Surgical Technician for one and a half years until his discharge in 1945. He was stationed in Germany and assisted with surgeon operations, gave blood transfusion and general nursing. Jimmy received the American Defense Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
