Thomas Raymond Togaila was born and raised in Amsterdam, NY. He was a 1966 graduate of Amsterdam High School. Thomas was drafted into the United States Army in April of 1968. He trained in Fort Dix, NJ and attended generator school in Fort Belvoir, VA before he was deployed to Vietnam where he worked as a generator operator. Thomas was honorably discharged in November of1969. He held the rank of Specialist 4th Class during his time of service and received the following medals: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Thomas returned home and worked for and retired from General Electric in Schenectady, NY. He went on to marry Kim Hoefs Togaila in 1981 and have two children, Daniel and Samantha. Thomas is a proud Veteran, enjoys cigars and loves being a grandfather.
