Sisto A. Surento was born on February 8, 1941, to parents Carmen and Gertrude Surento. He is a lifelong resident of Amsterdam, NY. Sisto graduated from the Wilber H. Lynch High School class of 1960. Following High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Sisto completed his basic training at Lackland Airforce Base in SanAntonio, Texas. He went to Chanut Airforce Base until he was stationed in Formosa, Taiwan. After 14 months in Formosa, he returned to the United States and was stationed at George Airforce Base in Victorville, California. He also spent three months in Spain. Sisto bravely served during the Cuban Crisis defending our country during uncertain times. Upon returning from Spain, he returned to George Airforce Base where he was stationed until being honorably discharged from service on April 21, 1964. Sisto married Roberta L. Brumley and they have two daughters, Tammy & Karen, four granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren. Sisto worked at General Electric in Schenectady, NY as a Crane Repair Worker until he retired in 2001. Sisto is a proud member of the Amsterdam Masonic Lodge #84 and is active in the community. He participates in volunteer work to raise money for the Shriners Hospital for Children and other charitable organizations. Sisto is a loving and compassionate man who is beloved by his family and friends
