Robert G. Murdoch enlisted in the U.S. Navy in his Senior Year of High School on February 28, 1945 and served honorably until his discharge on July 28, 1946. He completed his Basic Training at the Great lakes Naval Center and was assigned to the U.S.S. Lake Champlain as a Signalman 3rd throughout the duration of the War. Robert was crewman when the U.S.S. Champlain established the record for fastest crossing of the Atlantic in a time of 4 Days, 8 hours and 51 minutes in 1945. Upon completing his service, he returned to school to earn his diploma.
