Randolph Knack Jr. was born March 4, 1941 to Randolph Knack Sr. and Margaret Knack in Amsterdam NY.  He was drafted into the United States Army on November 1963and did his basic training at Fort Dix in New Jersey.  After completing his basic training he was assigned to the Headquarters & Headquarters Battery of the 53rd Artillery Brigade (AD) located on Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama,  The` 53rd Artillery Brigade was responsible for all Nike and Hawk missile units within the 5th region of the US.  He was first assigned as a Supply Specialist, and was then recommended to attend the US Army Quartermaster School in Ft. Lee Virginia.


He was the honor graduate of his class at Ft. Lee and then returned to the 53rd Artillery Brigade Headquarters in Montgomery, Alabama.  He was promoted to Specialist  E-4 soon after his return.  He served as acting Supply Sgt and additionally was Battery Armorer.  He served with the 53rd Artillery Brigade until his discharge, and was twice Soldier of the month, also soldier of the Quarter and Brigade Soldier of the Year.  Additionally He received commendations from his Commanding Officer and the Brigade General upon his discharge.


On September 5, 1965 he married Mary Jane St. John and their marriage continued  for 53+ years.  They had two sons Christopher and Gregory and three grandsons Jonathan , Stephen and Thomas.


After he was discharged from active duty he was assigned as training cadre for the 413th Quartermaster Company US Army Reserve located in Schenectady for almost two years.  After successfully completing his training cadre assignment he was honorably discharged as a Sgt E-5.
