Norma Jean Rich was always proud of her time in the United States Marine Corp, serving during the Korean War.  She was also proud that a little southern girl from Tampa, Fl. managed to survive “boot camp” at Paris Island. She met her future husband Phillip Rich there and loved to tell the story of that meeting.  Norma returned to Amsterdam with her husband and raised four children here.  She, like her husband, was a great advocate for the city and its' future potential. After raising her family, she got her realtors license, starting out with the Purtell Real Estate Agency and then, after acing the NYS Real Estate Brokers Test, opened her own agency, Adirondack Homes and Properties. She served as President of the Montgomery County Board of Realtors during this time and so enjoyed her tenure. Norma and her husband Phillip, were so proud to be Marines. Their love for their country, family and Amsterdam was a life long commitment.
