Mario Villa served in the United States Army 3rd Infantry Division as a Combat Engineer. Villa was stationed in Central Europe, Naples-Eoggia, Rhineland, Rome-Arno, and Southern France. In addition to his service in WWII he also served from 1946-1950 in the Pacific. For his service Villa received a Bronze Star, Distinguished Unit Badge, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with Bronze Service Arrowhead and Good Conduct Medal. Villa returned home and married the love of his life Antoinette and continued his service based life as the City of Amsterdam Mayor for three terms.
