Louis A. Greco, Corporal

Louis was born on August 11, 1917 in Amsterdam, NY and graduated from Amsterdam High School. He married Genevieve on June 16,1940. They had two children Vito "Butch" Geco and Kathleen Williams. Louis was drafted into the Army in 1943 and spent three years fighting in World War II in the 8th Tank Battalion with the 4th Armored Division in Europe. Louis fought in Bastogne and the Battle of the Bulge. Lou was wounded twice inaction. For his service, Louis received two Purple Hearts and was awarded two Bronze Star Medals by General George Patton. He was also the recipient of the French Cross, Five Battle Stars, a diploma from the French government, Presidential Citation and the European Medal. Lou was a proud man and very humble about his bravery. In February of 2010 at the age of 92 he passed away.
