Tony was born and raised in Amsterdam and attended local schools. While in school, he also worked at the local A&P as a bag boy. He entered into the United States Army in 1943 and was a proud veteran of WWII. He served as a Surgical Tech with the 15th General Hospital. Upon honorable discharge in 1946, Tony was decorated with the European, African & Middle Eastern Service Medal, A Good Conduct Medal and a WWII Victory Medal. He then returned to his hometown of Amsterdam and completed his career at the A&P retiring after 45 years as a Store Manager. In 1953, he married his wife Patricia Doane and went on to have three children as well as several grandchildren and great grand children.
