Mayor & Council
The City of Amsterdam City Council meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month, at 7:30pm in the Common Council Chambers located on the second floor of City Hall, 61 Church Street, Amsterdam, NY.
Meetings are open to the public so that concerned city residents can keep up to date with how the City is doing or voice any concerns they might have about the City. The Common Council is made up of the Mayor and elected alderpersons. The alderpersons, or members of the City Council are elected to represent a specific zone, or ward of the City by the residents of that ward; whereas the Mayor is elected by the City of Amsterdam residents at large.
