URA: Housing Rehabilitation Program
The Amsterdam Urban Renewal Program traditionally operates a housing rehabilitation program in target areas throughout the city. This program provides grants to property owners to revitalize the neighborhood, improve residential properties, eliminate code violations and improve energy efficiency of buildings. This program is funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development under the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended.
The agency also administers two revolving loan programs. One is designed to stimulate small business development within the City of Amsterdam. The other is designed to improve living areas on the second floor of commercial buildings within the city. The Urban Renewal Agency strives to help make Amsterdam a great place to live and grow a business. Its programs are administered with the help of the City's Community and Economic Development Department.
