Montgomery County is famous for a multiculturalism that makes our geographic area so unique. Nowhere else in the area will you find such a rich collage of ethnic groups and cultures, including the Native American Mohawk Indians and the Amish, to name just a few.

Our history and heritage stretches all the way back to the colonial days of the pre-Revolutionary War in the early 1700s to the creation of the byzantine Erie Canal that heralded the dawn of Montgomery County as "the Gateway to the West."
